The swing tag
The story this piece carries, printed on its swing tag. Tap to read it.
Green for the land, blue for the sea, black for the people and white for peace. At its centre sits the dhari, a traditional dancer's headdress, with a five-pointed star for the island groups and for the seafaring that connects them.
The flag was designed by Bernard Namok of Thursday Island in 1992.
The Vibrant Teal cap wears these colours so that Torres Strait Islander peoples are named, not folded in.
